Disaster Response in the Diocese of Los Angeles
As the devastating Eaton and Palisades wildfires burned across Los Angeles, Bishop John Harvey Taylor directed all donations to the One Body & One Spirit Appeal to be used to help individuals and institutions most affected by the fires.
Appeal grant applications are currently being reviewed weekly by a panel representing diocesan fiduciary bodies, with funds disbursed promptly upon approval.
Every single dollar raised goes right back out as grants, with absolutely no administrative cost.
The diocesan One Body & One Spirit Appeal - launched as an emergency fund during the Covid pandemic - has a proven record of routing contributions directly to help congregations and institutions meet emergent needs and unbudgeted expenses.
As of April 11, 2025, the One Body & One Spirit Fire Relief Appeal has raised more than $655,000 for fire relief efforts, and more than $341,000 has already gone out as a grants to individuals directly impacted by the wildfires.
In partnership with Episcopal Relief & Development, an additional $20,000 has gone out in grants to congregations and local organizations to further provide individual financial assistance and support community pastoral care.
